As the new MHAHA Youth Director, my first official action is to thank Debbie Treadwell, for all her hard work and love she put into the role as Youth Director - it's truly appreciated!! As a relative newcomer to MHAHA, I had a "few" questions and Deb was always kind enough to answer them and point me in the right direction. I'm excited to take on this role, and hope I can do half the job that Deb did!
So a bit about me, I grew up in Eastern Canada riding in the Hunter/Jumper world. When my daughter Kiera decided to start riding we looked for a Hunter barn and found a whole new world with the Arabian Horse! I have discovered a real appreciation and love for the Arabian breed - but I guess the groundwork had been laid early on after reading Black Beauty!
For 2019, we are planning some exciting new things for our Youth. One of which, is a series of clinics focused on Careers in the Equine Industry. Over a series of 3-4 clinics we'll provide hands-on opportunities for our Youth to discover various career options. We are also looking at providing riding and judging clinics, as well as, more educational and volunteer opportunities. MHAHA will also be joining forces with our sister organization MAHA, to provide more social opportunities to bring our Youth together.
